Indian army officer dies by suicide within a year of marriage. As a wife, his in-laws are said to have harassed him. Alimony of Rs 15 Lakh – Vote for Men

India studiously ignores the plight of married men, often leaving many of them with no choice but to sadly end their lives. Yet another incident #HusbandSuicide has been reported from Pune, Maharashtra, where a 24-year-old soldier committed suicide after being molested by his wife.

Case:

Gorakh Nanabhau Shelar worked as a nursing assistant at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC). He was married to one Ashwini Yuvraj Patil on February 16, 2021.

Before his suicide, the Shelar left a video and wrote a note on the basis of which the pThe police have registered a case against the soldier's wife and in-laws.

Ashwini Yuvraj Patil, Yuvraj Patil, Sangita Yuvraj Patil, Yogesh Patil And Bhagyashree Patil – all were subsequently booked by the Wanwadi police in Pune Keshav Patil (Victim's brother) has filed a complaint about this. However, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Allegations from the family of the deceased man

Keshav Patil alleged that his brother was psychologically harassed by his wife Ashwini from February 16, 2021 to February 6, 2022. He has also accused Nanabhaus's in-laws of harassment.

According to Keshav, Ashwini's family was demanding 15 lakh rupees for divorce and Nanabhau was tired of the constant mental and physical harassment because of it.

So, within a year of marriage, Nanabhau decided to end his life by hanging himself in his apartment. In his complaint, Keshav alleged:

My brother married Ashwini Patil on February 16, 2021. Ashwini threatened to file a false complaint against my brother that he forced her to have an abortion. His in-laws also threatened to file false lawsuits if he did not agree to the divorce.

My brother died by suicide within a year of his marriage.

Leave your thoughts on this case below. If dowry is a crime, why is maintenance on pain of false cases legal in India? How many more men have to die for the government to wake up?
