When Travis and Adelle Graham met, it was love at first sight and within a year they were married.
They enjoyed the honeymoon phase of their marriage before things quickly took a nosedive.
Travis Graham felt his life was in shambles. During his years of military and police service, he had injured his back several times. As a result, he was diagnosed with spinal stenosis, herniated disc, degenerative disc disease, degenerative arthritis, and more. He could not walk without pain and eventually battled an addiction to painkillers and alcohol. In addition, he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) due to trauma he experienced while on duty as a police officer for 15 years, and also struggled with a pornography addiction.
“Our marriage has suffered all this time while we both put on the facade that everything is fine, everything is perfect,” Travis explained.
Adelle eventually gave him an ultimatum and he agreed to get help. It was at this point that healing began for the couple.
“Jesus saved his heart and saved his soul,” Adelle said. “This is where his transformation began.”
That fall, as things began to improve in their relationship, Adelle found out that Travis had been unfaithful earlier in their marriage.
“I was devastated and heartbroken just as our marriage was getting better,” Adelle explains.
“What I didn’t know at the time was that without that exact timing, I would have left and found Travis Jesus after everything I had already been through in our 12 years of marriage. I love that God gave me a transformed man, a Jesus loving man, for six months to give me a taste of what we could have if I stayed and did the hard work of healing.”
Eventually, thanks to God, Adelle Travis was able to forgive and they were able to restore their marriage.
Today, Travis and Adelle continue to grow their relationship and are passionate about helping other couples do the same. They run a small group for couples in Seacoast Greenville and now coach married couples and individuals to live their lives passionately through their ministry, The Noble Marriage.
Today, Travis and Adelle are sharing their story on Connections. The couple will also chat about their service, The Noble Marriage.
