Jackie Chan & Johnny Knoxville in an action comedy

There's a scene in Skiptrace where Johnny Knoxville annoys Jackie Chan. The result? Chan goes all in on Moe at Knoxville's Larry. This had to be on the Jackass veteran's wish list.

Here's the first trailer for the East beats West buddy action team of two guys who laugh at each other – and whose pain made us laugh. Renny Harlin directed the picture, in which Chan is Hong Kong's best detective trying to take down China's deadliest gang, and Knoxville is America's most wanted fugitive, a gambler who saw something he shouldn't have. The unlikely partners bicker, bicker and ultimately team up, and the smart money isn't on the bad guys.

The trailer opens with a great Jackass stunt, showcasing Chan's still-nimble fighting skills and Knoxville's clever on-screen persona. Amidst the martial arts fight scenes, gunfights and explosions are clues to a conspiracy involving a dead woman, scorned crooks, and the like. Memories of rush hour are brought back as the good guys run away and take a break to play some Mongolian drinking games with the Adele soundtrack.

Fan Bingbing, Eric Tsang, Eve Torres and Winston Chow star in Skiptrace, written by Jay Longino and Bendavid Grabinski. Saban Films will release the film in theaters on September 2nd following an exclusive VOD run on DirecTV. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think.
