Jackie Chan (Rush Hour, Shanghai Knights) will star in the action comedy Skiptrace alongside Fan Bingbing (Iron Man 3, X-Men: Days of Future Past), while China and the US are producing alongside Exclusive Media and China Talent International on the Chasing the Chinese and international crossover markets.


China is expected to overtake the US box office within the next five years and become a global film superpower. How are studios taking advantage of this lucrative market? The answer is co-production, and who better to take the lead than veteran crossover star Jackie Chan?

With his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Jackie Chan – actor, comedian, author, producer and martial arts expert – enjoys huge popularity to open the doors for an English-language Chinese film. Skiptrace is about a good cop whose niece (played by Fan Bingbing) gets involved in the family of a crime syndicate. The crime boss is an old nemesis of Chan's character, whom he has been trying to defeat for over twenty years. The only person who can help save his niece is an American gamer, played by Seann William Scott (Just Before I Go), who must be tracked down and brought to Hong Kong.

Sam Fell, director of the animated films Paranorman and The Tale of Despereaux, will make his live-action debut with Skytrace. Jay Longino is co-writing the screenplay with Brian Greenwood and Alessandro Tanaka (“The Sitter”) and David Posamentier and Geoff Moore (“Better Living Through Chemistry”).

Jackie Chan is currently starring in CZ12, an action comedy about the Chinese zodiac. Production on Skytrace begins in January 2014.
