In a 52-second preview for Red Table Talk on Wednesday (Oct. 19), Jana Kramer opens up about her failed marriage to former NFL player Mike Caussin. In the clip, which was posted to the show’s Facebook account, the One Tree Hill alum revealed how bad her ex-husband’s infidelity was amid their very public divorce in 2021.
“So you found out he’s been cheating on 13+ women?” host Jada Pinkett Smith asked the country star, to which she replied, “More.”
While Pinkett Smith pointed out that it “must be really painful,” Kramer held back tears as she tabled the most difficult part of the divorce.
“I know we’re both in better situations, but I think my kids won’t be waking up in my house on Christmas Day this year,” she said of being swallowed. “This will hurt.”
Pinkett Smith added, “That’s a tough question when your family dreams coincide with childhood trauma,” before Kramer told her, “Then I’m like, ‘That’s not fair.’ You also took away my dream of what I wanted for my family.”
In another preview clip, Kramer revealed to Pinkett Smith, Sheree Zampino and Adrienne Banfield-Norris why she stayed with Caussin despite all his cheating. According to her, every time she caught her ex-husband, he made a different promise that she would stick by.
“[He’d say] “I’m going to be baptized,” or “I go to therapy every week,” or “I go to a meeting,” she said. “It’s like, ‘I’ll never do it again with the next one because now I’m going to be a better man.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, I want that better man.’”
However, Kramer continued the moment she decided to leave him. She said, “Finally the last time, last April, when I caught him again, he said, ‘Now I know I’ll never do it again.’ And I thought, ‘And you know what? For that person, they will be really lucky that you won’t. And then I left.”
Kramer, who notably appeared in One Tree Hill from 2009 to 2012, first met Caussin on Twitter in 2014, but they broke up after just a few weeks due to his cheating. They later reconciled and married in May 2015 before welcoming their first child in 2016. After splitting later that year and Caussin entering rehab, they got back together in 2017, and a year later the couple opened up about the former athlete’s battle with sex addiction.
Kramer gave birth to her second child in late 2018, but eventually filed for divorce in 2021, citing “inappropriate marital behavior, irreconcilable differences, and adultery.”
