Karnataka man sentenced to life in jail for murdering his spouse in acid assault on suspicion of infidelity
A Bengaluru court has sentenced a man to life in prison for the murder of his wife, who died in an acid attack. Chennegowda “suspected his wife’s fidelity since she was beautiful” and poured acid over her to disfigure her.
The couple were married in 1996. Manjula succumbed to her injuries on September 29, 2017, two months after the acid attack.
The case was registered at the Kempegowda Nagar Police Station.
The civil and session judge of the XXXXVI. City, Manjunath, found Chennegowda guilty of murder, acid attack and cruelty to his wife. He was sentenced to life in prison for murder, ten years for acid attack, and two years for cruelty.
