Killed terrorist has been listed as a ‘lacking individual’, ISPR says

Rawalpindi: A wanted terrorist killed in an intelligence-gathering operation (IBO) in the Shakas area of ​​the Khyber tribal district has emerged as a much-touted “missing person,” Inter-Services Public Relations said in its statement Tuesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement, a joint operation was carried out in Shakas, which resulted in an “intense” exchange of fire between terrorists and security forces.

“Own troops effectively attacked the terrorists’ location. As a result, terrorist Liaquat Ali aka Shaheen, a key terrorist commander, was killed,” the statement said, adding that the slain militant was also “propagated as a missing person.”

According to ISPR, he “remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces, targeted killings[s] and extortion”. Weapons and ammunition were confiscated from him in large quantities, it said.

The ISPR statement went on to say that a sepoy, 28-year-old Saleem Khan from Swabi, was also martyred in the operation after fighting “gallantly”. “The clean-up of the area is being carried out to eliminate all other terrorists found in the area,” the ISPR said. “The Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the threat of terrorism and such sacrifices by our brave soldiers strengthen our resolve,” the statement concluded. On Monday, the CTD confirmed the killing of Liaquat Ali in Jamrud tehsil in Khyber district.
