King of Prussia man charged with stalking and burglary after allegedly committing GPS tracking incident

BENSALEM, PA — A King of Prussia man faces serious charges for allegedly stalking a woman he met on a dating website and tampering with her home. Matthew Bustin, 33, was scheduled to stand trial on June 1, 2024, following an investigation by Bensalem police.

The case began on April 16, 2024, when a female victim returned from vacation and reported that all the circuit breakers in her home had been turned off and her internet connection had been manually disconnected. The victim had recently ended a relationship with Bustin and blocked him on social media due to his disturbing behavior. Despite this, Bustin continued to text her and show up unannounced.

Bensalem investigators examined the victim's vehicle and discovered a magnetized GPS tracking device on the underside. Further investigation revealed that the tracking device's data, which began sending on April 5, 2024, was linked to an account belonging to Bustin. Surveillance footage from the victim's workplace in Montgomery County showed a man matching Bustin's description attaching the device to her car.

Analysis of location data from Bustin's cell phone showed that he was near the victim's home and work location at least nine times after the relationship ended. PECO records confirmed that the victim's home had its electricity turned off between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on April 14, 2024, while she was on vacation. During this time, Bustin's phone was discovered near her residence.

Bustin turned himself in to the Bensalem Township Police Department on June 1, 2024. He was charged with burglary, trespassing, stalking, and harassment. District Judge Lisa Gaier set his bail at 10% of $2,000,000 and he was remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility.

Bensalem Police are asking anyone who has had similar experiences with Bustin to come forward. Detective Connor Farnan can be reached at (215) 633-3632.

All charges are allegations, and Bustin is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation is ongoing and more details may emerge.
