A KWEKWE man who could not bear his wife’s alleged infidelity left the community in shock after swallowing deadly poison at her parents’ house before falling dead in the yard.
Midlands Police spokesman Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident on Friday.
Mahoko also revealed that another man from Gweru killed himself by drinking poison for reasons still unknown.
“The Police of the Republic of Zimbabwe confirm the investigation into two poisoning deaths in which two men died in Gweru and Kwekwe after consuming toxic substances. The cases occurred around 8:00 p.m. on January 9, 2022 in Mkoba, Gweru and around 10:45 a.m. on January 13, 2022 in Amaveni, Kwekwe,” Mahoko said.
“Marcus Sanyangore, an adult male aged 36 from Amaveni, Kwekwe went to his in-laws’ residence where he found his sister-in-law Olgar Sipinyu, a woman aged 36. Sanyangore then drank a liquid substance which he held in front of the sister-in-law. He fell and died instantly,” Mahoko said.
The matter was reported to the police, who were at the scene, and the body was taken to the morgue at Kwekwe Hospital for an autopsy.
“We appeal to the public to always resolve disputes amicably, involving third parties who take one’s life will never be a solution,” Mahoko said.
