Emergency teams worked together last night (Wednesday) to find a missing person in Ventnor.

Police, WightSAR and ambulances were called to the St. Boniface Down area to help locate a man.

The NPAS (National Police Air Service) helicopter was also called in from Bournemouth for assistance.

The man – classified as endangered by the police – was located and handed over to the emergency services.

The Isle of Wight Police posted on Facebook:

“We participated in a missing person report. Due to the circumstances, they were classified as high risk.

“The light was fading and the situation in Ventnor was difficult. Officers and WightSAR spent several hours searching fields and the surrounding area.

“Fortunately, the person was found. She was injured and required medical attention and was taken to the hospital.

“Kudos to WightSAR, who are all volunteers – and without them it would have been a big challenge tonight.”
