Largo lawyer missing in ‘suspicious circumstances’, reports say

A Pinellas County attorney is missing “in suspicious circumstances,” according to the Largo Police Department and social media posts.

Largo Police issued a four-sentence media release on Friday afternoon saying Steven Cozzi, 41, was last seen on Tuesday and that an investigation into his disappearance is “active and ongoing”.

“The Largo Police Department is investigating a missing person case for Steven Cozzi in suspicious circumstances,” the press release said.

The police declined to release any further information.

According to Facebook posts from family members, Cozzi is a lawyer. He works for Blanchard Law PA based at 1501 S Belcher Road. According to the report, he was last seen in the office on Tuesday.

WFLA Ch. 8 reported that managing partner Jake Blanchard told the network that people in the office saw Cozzi enter a men’s room on Tuesday. That was the last anyone in the office saw of him, the report said.

Employees told WFLA that shortly after Cozzi went to the bathroom, they saw blood and bleach in the toilet, but did not see Cozzi.

“Blanchard said (Cozzi) never returned to his desk and his phone, wallet and car keys remained on his desk,” reads the WFLA story.

Cozzi’s family members posted messages on Facebook urging anyone with information to call the Largo Police Department at 727-587-6730.

Cozzi was scheduled to appear for a court hearing on Friday but did not show up, WFLA reported.
