Law enforcement companies seek for a lacking individual in Cordova Park

Law enforcement agencies search for a missing person in Cordova Park

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a missing person who may be in Cordova Park. That person, identified as Raymond Welch, was reported missing by Mahaska County on Sunday. Welch was last seen on Saturday afternoon. Since he was reported missing, authorities have analyzed cellphone data, conducted web searches, used sonar and deployed a sniffer dog. The sheriff’s office said it was focusing its search on Cordova based on information the missing person was at the park Sunday morning. Those assisting in the search include the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Marion County Conservation, the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office, the Oskaloosa Police Department, the Marion County Emergency Management, the Emergency Management of Mahaska County and the Underwater Search of Central Iowa Rescue, among others. Authorities are not currently asking for public support. Welch’s family is also asking that the public not come to Lake Red Rock. Search efforts were suspended Tuesday evening and will resume Wednesday morning.
