Madhya Pradesh: man chops off proper hand, foot of his spouse on suspicion of infidelity

In a gruesome incident reported by Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal, a 32-year-old man hacked off his wife’s right hand and foot because he was concerned about having an illegal love affair.

According to the details, the incident took place on Tuesday in an area under the jurisdiction of the Nishatpura Police Station in Bhopal. According to a report in India Today, the defendant was identified as Pritam Singh Sisodia, a resident of Hoshangabad.

When speaking of the incident, Nishatpura SHO Mahinder Singh Chouhan stated that the defendant had come to terms with his underage son at the Paras colony home.

The defendant’s wife, identified as Sangeeta, works as a supervisor in a factory in Indore and came to Bhopal on non-working days. At around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the defendant came to his home drunk and cut off her right hand and foot with an ax.

The defendant’s wife was found in a pool of blood after few neighbors came to her aid after hearing their cries for help, despite the defendant threatening to cut off her head. However, the police arrived at the point after Sangeeta was taken to a nearby hospital.

Sangeeta’s health is reported to be dire, while the doctors have stated, “At this point in time, it cannot be said whether her hand and foot can be reattached.”

In the meantime, an attempted murder has been filed against the accused and the police have taken him into custody. Custody of the couple’s underage child was initially transferred to the von Sangeeta family.
