Maharashtra: GPS tracking, panic buttons, CCTV cameras in school buses from the next academic year

The government of Maharashtra has prescribed GPS tracking systems, panic buttons, fire fighting prices and CCTV cameras in private and school buses from the academic year 2025-26. The State Ministry of Transport will announce the new transport policy for school children to ensure the safety of students who travel to school by bus.

A retired transport officer, Jitendra Patil, directed a committee that was appointed for rules and guidelines. The committee will submit its report within one month. The government undertook these steps after several incidents and complaints from the parents about the functioning of school buses that were operated by various institutions across the state.

The State Ministry of Transport recently held an important meeting to tackle these problems and to ensure the safety of children in school buses. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik said that the new school bus policy in Repones for concerns are introduced, which the parents expressed, reported the Indian Express.

According to the report, the State Ministry of Transport will check the committee's recommendations before concluding the regulations. After the implementation, schools and bus operators have to comply with these security measures in order to continue working.
