As we all know, Malaika was married to actor Arbaaz Khan for 19 years. In a recent interview, she shared an article that mentioned that she could afford to wear expensive outfits due to “fat alimony payments.”

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Malaika Arora opened up about her life, her divorce and how her hard work goes down the drain due to such untrue comments. Recalling the time when she was horrified when she read an article that said, “Apparently she can afford it because she was on high maintenance,” Malaika said she was horrified. She said: “I was shocked. Whatever you have done in life, at whatever level, it makes no difference. Because at the end of the day, you can be whatever you are because you got alimony. There is no value for your worth.” and network, this all went down the drain because some ridiculous idiot somewhere claimed that I was living on a fictitious alimony.

The actress also shared why she decided to divorce Arbaaz Khan. She said that at the time of her divorce, there weren't many women in the film industry who got divorced and moved on.

She said: “Everyone said, 'Suddenly she decided to get a divorce'. But no, I felt like for myself, for my personal growth, my decision, I had to feel okay inside if I had to go ahead and make my decision to make my child happy and to make sure my child thrives in its environment. So that’s what I did.”

Malaika's recent comments about her lifestyle and lavish wardrobe were attributed to alimony by a section of netizens and clearly show the challenges women face when their lives become sensationalized. Due to the unfounded rumors, women's empowering stories are going nowhere and that's exactly what the actress highlighted. However, her statements, which she reflects to society's judgment, prove that she does not let her true struggles and her truth get lost.
