Malaika says a person wrote that she could afford an expensive outfit because of maintenance payments | Bollywood

Actress and television personality Malaika Arora has spoken out about an article about her that said she was allowed to wear expensive outfits because of “fat maintenance payments”. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Malaika shared that the network a person builds or their hard work goes down the drain because of such comments. Early marriage, divorce decision

Malaika said she grew up in a household where she was expected to enjoy her life. She revealed that it was her decision to get married in her early 20s. Malaika also added that no one forced her to do it but she thought she had to do it then because it was “the best option I had at that moment”. She also admitted that after getting married, she realized it wasn't what she wanted. However, she was “questioned and ridiculed” for her decision.

Why she decided to get a divorce

Malaika said, “When I got divorced, I don't think there were too many women in the industry who had decided to get divorced and move on. Everyone said, “Suddenly she decided to get a divorce.” But no, I felt like, for myself, for my personal growth, for my decision, I had to feel okay inside if I moved on, my child happy had to do and ensure that it flourished in its environment. So that's what I did.

Expensive outfits came with hefty maintenance payments

She recalled: “Someone decided to spread a ridiculous article about something I was wearing because it was so expensive, and they said, 'She can obviously afford it because she's paid a lot of money,' and I was horrified. I was shocked. Whatever you have done in life, at whatever level, it makes no difference. Because at the end of the day, you can be whatever you are because you get support. Your value and your network have no value, it's all gone down the drain because some ridiculous idiot somewhere says I'm living on a fictitious alimony.”

Malaika and Arbaaz married in 1998. They divorced in 2017. They are parents to a son named Arhaan Khan. Malaika is currently dating Arjun Kapoor. They've been together for a long time. Arbaaz married makeup artist Sshura Khan after a Nikkah ceremony around Christmas last year. According to reports, Arbaaz and Sshura met on the sets of Patna Shukla.
