Man accused of taking pictures in custody swap

HATTSBURG, Miss. (WHLT) – One person was injured and another is in prison following a shooting that took place in Hattiesburg on Sunday, January 22.

Hattiesburg Police Department (HPD) officers said officers responded to the scene just before 8:00 p.m. near Main Street and East Pine Street.

Two are wanted after one was injured by gunfire at the Laurel restaurant

Officers determined that two people in the process of a custody swap had gotten into a verbal altercation that resulted in an exchange of gunfire. One person was slightly injured and refused medical transport.

HPD officials said Kenzell Blakely, 22, of Hattiesburg, is wanted for two counts of aggravated assault in connection with the shooting.
