Man accuses fiancee of dishonest and chains her in bed room, police say

LEESVILLE, La. (KPLC/Gray News) – Police say a Louisiana man chained his fiancée in the bedroom after accusing her of infidelity.

Robert Allen McCrary, 30, is accused of placing an 8 1/2 foot chain with padlocks around each of the woman’s wrists, according to Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft.

According to Craft, around 5:45 p.m. on June 22, authorities began investigating the riots at a Leesville apartment building. Deputies found McCrary and his father fighting over McCrary accusing his fiancée of infidelity, KPLC reports.

The deputies were able to calm both men and left the scene, but Vernon Parish dispatchers informed them that a woman had arrived at the sheriff’s office in connection with the disturbance call.

The woman stopped a driver who happened to be an off-duty deputy, Craft said. Because the woman had a chain lock on her wrists and because of injuries to her face, the deputy sheriff took the woman to the sheriff’s office.

The woman told authorities she was McCrary’s fiancee and that he constantly accused her of being unfaithful, Craft said. She said his paranoia made him chain her up, Craft said. She told authorities she has a toddler and is currently pregnant.

The woman said McCrary chained her to a clothesline that stretched across the bedroom and locked the chain so she couldn’t leave the bedroom, Craft said. McCrary would occasionally lead her into the yard while she held on to the chain, she told MPs.

The woman said McCrary would examine her and get angry and said he could smell evidence of another man on her, Craft said.

The woman said she was chained in the bedroom for three days before being freed when McCrary chained her to the kitchen table while he went outside arguing with a neighbor, Craft said.

Craft said the woman had extensive discoloration and bruising on her face and head. She said McCrary hit her and punched her in the face, which resulted in her slamming her face into an air conditioner, Craft said.

Deputies returned to the home and arrested McCrary, who said it was the woman’s idea to remain chained at the residence, Craft said.

McCrary was arrested on one count of false imprisonment and one count of domestic violence.
