Man escapes after allegedly killing his spouse on allegations of infidelity

A pregnant woman believed to be in her early 30s was allegedly murdered by her husband after a scuffle broke out between the two on suspicion of infidelity.

The incident took place on Saturday in Nyankyerenease, Kwadaso parish, Ashanti region.

Tenants in the house where the incident took place say Kwame Maxwell, 40, stabbed Betty, which resulted in her death after she accused him of fraud.

Kwame Maxwell is currently on the run.

An eyewitness who said she was the landlady said she heard the deceased call for help the night before the incident.

According to her, she later saw the suspect come out of his room with bloodstained hands and try to wipe it off.

The landlady added that Betty was lying unconscious in a pool of blood when she entered the couple’s room.

“I was awakened from sleep when I suddenly heard a woman [Betty] scream for help. She screamed, ‘He’s killing me … come and help me.’

“We went out with my son and found that the scream came from the pregnant woman’s room. But unfortunately all the lights in the room were off so we couldn’t see what was happening inside.

“Then I saw the suspect come out of the room with blood-smeared hands … and he was using his wife’s nightwear to wipe the stains off his hands.”

“The two live in peace and always move in together when they go out, so the least we suspected the Kwame could actually stab Betty to death,” she said.

The incident was reported to the police, who are now investigating.
