Man kidnapped in front of house and found safe

UPDATE (Jan. 19) – Baltimore County Police said Joel Edwards is safe. ORIGINAL STORY (Jan. 18) – Police are searching for a critically missing person who was kidnapped outside his home on Wednesday. According to Baltimore County Police, around 8:40 p.m., 62-year-old Joel Edwards was attacked by an unknown suspect in the 3500 block of Forest Hill Road. Police said Edwards was forced into a vehicle and is currently missing. The incident was captured on doorbell camera video. “He was forced into a vehicle in the Gwynn Oak area. “Our detectives discovered the vehicle he was forced into,” Det. Trae Corbin said. The vehicle is a white van, which was also captured on video. The police did not provide any information about the location. Witnesses told 11 News Edwards pulled into his driveway and got out of his vehicle. Someone was standing at the garage door. The white van stopped and two men pushed Edwards into the van. Neighbors spoke anonymously to 11 News: “Why would they want to kidnap him and kidnap him? For what reason? I don’t understand,” said a neighbor. “I “I was shocked. This is a quiet street, a quiet neighborhood, and I'm just shocked. I saw the police out there, so I came out and saw the police going door to door,” another neighbor said. Police would not confirm this, but sources told 11 News that Edwards was a property manager and a known gambler. He was allegedly on his way home from the live casino in Hanover when he was kidnapped. “Our detectives are trying to find out where Edwards came from. We know he was forced into a vehicle in the 3500 block of Forest Hill Road,” Corbin said. “Edwards is 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighs 260 pounds and was last seen wearing a black puffer jacket, black boots, a blue long sleeve shirt and a blue sweatpants seen. According to Baltimore County Police, 62-year-old Joel Edwards was attacked by an unknown suspect in the 3500 block of Forest Hill Road around 8:40 p.m. Police said Edwards was forced into a vehicle and is currently missing.

The incident was captured on doorbell camera video.

“He was forced into a vehicle in the Gwynn Oak area. Our investigators discovered the vehicle he was forced into,” Det. Trae Corbin said.

The vehicle is a white van, which was also captured on video. Police would not say where it was found.
