They have two daughters and one son
A man killed his wife by allegedly strangling her on suspicion that she was having an extramarital affair and then committed suicide.
The incident took place in Garajnapara village in Ghatail Upazila of Tangail.
The husband, Abdul Latif, 50, poisoned himself and was admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where he died on Sunday afternoon.
The late woman was identified as Sabura Khatun.
On Sunday, Emperor Hamid, the brother of the late Sabura Khatun, filed a murder case with the police.
According to the case report and local sources, Sabura was the daughter of the late Ibrahim from Rasulpur village in Khatun Upazila.
Sabura was married to Abdul Latif from Garajnapara village in the same Upazila about 30 years ago. They have two daughters and one son.
Latif was in Qatar for a long time and returned to the country three months ago.
Both suspected each other of infidelity and therefore repeatedly had conflicts. The disputes increased after Latif returned to the country.
Last Saturday morning, son Sabbir went to the madrasa as usual. However, when he got home from the madrasah at noon, he saw his mother’s body lying on the bed, his mouth closed with duct tape and a towel tied around her neck.
His father, Latif, who drank poison, was found lying on the floor next to the bed in a senseless state.
Villagers came to the rescue and heard Sabbir’s screams. Latif was taken to the Madhupur Upazila Health Complex and later to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where he died on Sunday while undergoing treatment.
Sabura’s cousin, neighbor Nuru Mia, said there were daily arguments between the two over suspected extramarital affairs.
In this regard, the OC Azharul Islam Police Station in Ghatail said that the first investigation was a murder. A murder case was recorded in the incident.
