Family seeks closure after Robert Baines, 83, left his home in Coldstream on January 2, 2024
The family of an elderly man who disappeared from Coldstream more than a year ago are appealing for closure.
The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP is again appealing to the public for information in connection with the missing person investigation of Robert Lee Baines.
Baines, 83, was reported missing in the early hours of Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
He left a house on Ponderosa Way in Coldstream on foot and after initial searches by family members failed to find him, police were called to help.
An extensive search of the neighborhood and nearby Kal Park was conducted on foot and from the air using a drone.
In addition, a thorough water search was conducted at Lake Kalamalka to locate Baines.
Unfortunately, a year later he still hasn't been found.
It has now been over a year since Mr Baines was first reported missing, explains Const. Chris Terleski, Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media officer.
We renew our call to remind everyone that Robert is still out there. We are bringing the case back into the public consciousness in hopes of generating new leads, finding Robert and bringing closure to the family.
