Man reportedly killed in Columbia capturing throughout custody swap | Columbia News

COLUMBIA — A 23-year-old man was shot dead on Colonial Drive on the night of July 10 while he was reportedly in the area for a custody swap, according to the Columbia Police Department.

Officers are still investigating the incident and no arrests have been reported in connection with the shooting.

Police responded to a call around 8 p.m. and found a man near the street on the 4400 block of Colonial Drive in northern Colombia. He was shot in the torso.

The man, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead overnight, according to a press release from the Columbia Police Department.

Police say several witnesses heard the man arguing with another man before the two reportedly shot each other. Columbia police said children and the mother were home at the time of the shooting, but they were not injured.
