Man reportedly shot his ex-wife 4 instances on the day of the custody listening to

HOUSTON, Texas – A man allegedly cut power to his ex-wife’s home before breaking in and shooting her four times, all on the same day they were due to appear in court for a custody hearing.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the attack occurred in a Harris County neighborhood around 3:30 a.m. Monday morning.

KTRK reports that Aaron B. Wright used an unlocked electrical box outside the house to turn off the electricity and broke through a rear window before shooting four times at his estranged wife.

The broadcaster reported that the couple were due to appear in court for a custody hearing that same day, and Wright feared they would lose custody of their children. Her four children, ages 5 to 12, were sleeping in their beds when the shooting occurred.

None of the children were injured and they are currently in the care of relatives.

A surveillance video showed Wright and a second person, believed to be his girlfriend, parked down the street shortly before the attack. Wright then approached the house on foot.

It is unclear whether Wright’s girlfriend will also be charged.

The sheriff’s office added that Wright had previously threatened to harm his ex-wife’s boyfriend.

“I understand he threatened the new boyfriend several times,” said Harris County Assistant Investigator John Mook. “I’m sure this was a contentious divorce too. We’re looking into all of this.”

Wright was charged with aggravated assault.

The victim has been in stable condition in the hospital since Tuesday morning.
