Man shot useless in Polk County custody swap

A 28-year-old Polk County man was arrested after a fatal shooting. Winter Haven Police were called to the Abbey Lane Apartments on Evergreen Place around 11am on Saturday. Upon arrival, officers found a man with gunshot wounds. He was taken to Winter Haven Health where he died. Officers contacted Christopher Edward Hill, who told them he was involved in a shooting while taking his children from his ex-girlfriend’s home. Hill claimed he was frightened after an altercation with another man at the home and fired shots as a result. However, witnesses in the area told officers they saw Hill running after the victim while he fired a pistol. Hill was arrested and sent to the Polk County Jail on charges of first-degree murder.
