India mandated from October 2026 for all transport tractors for all transport tractors to improve security.
Neu -Delhi, July 23 (PTI) With the aim of improving security, the Ministry of Road Traffic and motorways suggested that all transport tractors on October 1, 2026 are mandatory with effect on the vehicle location -tracking devices (VLTD).
The ministry in a draft for notification to further change the central motor vehicles rules of 1989 said that the VLTD must be integrated into an RFID transceiver that must be able to read radio frequency data from the coupled trailer and transfer it to the backend.
“On Oder October 1, 2026, all transport tractors must be equipped with vehicles with vehicles, which comply with AIS-140,” it says.
The notification further states that all supporters with passive RFID tags in accordance with the IS 16722: 2018 must be equipped to enable electronic identification and pairing with tractors
“On or after April 1, 2027, all transport tractors must be equipped with an event data recorder (EDR) in order to record and save critical vehicle data,” the event said.
According to the notification, the EDR parameter must record that is necessary for the analysis of operating events and the improvement of security monitoring.
The ministry gave the stakeholders for 30 days to comment on the draft.
