Von Teese and Manson (real name Brian Warner) were in a relationship for seven years. The couple married in December 2005, but Von Teese left him just a year later.

On her social media post, Von Teese said that Manson did not abuse her when they were together.

“I’ve processed the news that came out Monday about Marilyn Manson,” she wrote. “To those who have expressed concern about my well-being, I appreciate your kindness. Please note that the details published do not match my personal experience during our seven pairings together. If they had him, I would not have married him in December 2005. ”

Von Teese continued: “Abuse of any kind has no place in any relationship.”

“I urge those of you who have suffered abuse to take steps toward healing and the strength to fully realize yourself,” she added. “This is my only statement on the matter.”

In her statement, Von Teese clarified the circumstances of her divorce from the controversial rock star.

“I left … because of infidelity and substance abuse,” she wrote.

In a 2007 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Von Teese spoke about why their marriage had failed, suggesting that cheating could have been the culprit.

“We were completely monogamous,” she said. “[W]We really believed in commitment and tradition and our vows. But sometimes people change their ideas, I suppose … ”

Von Teese said Manson was “the man of my dreams” but that things turned sour “overnight”.

“Let’s just say that it must have been a pretty bad thing for me to move out of the house together after six years and pack my things up on Christmas Eve,” she said.

Known for her vintage glamor style, the actress said she found herself in a situation many other women have encountered where you “have to decide whether to respect yourself and say,“ I won’t accept that. That is not in order.'”

Shortly after Von Teese and Manson split, he and Wood went public as a couple. When asked whether her husband’s relationship with the future Westworld star – who was 19 years old at the time – was behind the breakup, she replied: “No comment.”
