The infamous “entanglement” was apparently not counted as a scam.
Will Smith clarified in a new interview on Sunday that he and wife Jada Pinkett Smith “never” had infidelity in their marriage – despite previously sharing that they’ve been dating other people since their marriage.
“Jada and I talk about everything and we’ve never surprised each other with anything,” the King Richard star told Gayle King on CBS Mornings.
In July 2020, Jada, 50, shared on an episode of her Facebook Watch series Red Table Talk that she and singer August Alsina were in a relationship while she and 53-year-old Will were privately separated.
The “Matrix” star famously described their 2015 tryst as an “entanglement” and refused to call it an affair.

Meanwhile, Alsina, now 29, confirmed that Will was indeed aware of his relationship with Jada.
“I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation about converting their marriage to a civil partnership…he gave me his blessing,” the “Entanglements” singer said in an interview with The Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee June 2020 .
He also claimed he fell in love with the mother-of-two, adding, “I’ve totally committed myself to this relationship for years of my life and I really and really, really deeply love her and have a ton of love for her. I gave myself to her, I gave myself completely to her – so much that I can now die and be okay with knowing that I really gave myself to someone.

However, on “Red Table Talk,” Jada denied that Will had given her “permission” to see Alsina, but said she understood why the crooner would assume he did.
In September 2021, Will shared that for the “large part” of his marriage to Jada, “monogamy was what we chose and not to think of monogamy as the only relational perfection.”
The ‘Hitch’ star told GQ magazine that he and the ‘Gotham’ grad “gave each other trust and freedom” because for them marriage “must not be a prison.”
“I’m not suggesting our path to anyone. I do not recommend this road to anyone,” he remarked. “But the experience of the freedoms we gave each other and the unconditional support for me is the highest definition of love.”

In November 2021, Will went on to explain to Oprah Winfrey why he and his wife once took a step back from their marriage, leading to the Alsina relationship.
“What happened is that we realized it was a fantasy illusion that we could make each other happy,” the Independence Day star said on Apple TV+’s The Oprah Conversation.
“We agreed that she needed to make herself happy and I needed to make myself happy, and then we would present ourselves to the already happy relationship again, rather than demanding that the other person fill our empty cup.”
Married since 1997, Will and Jada share 23-year-old son Jaden and 21-year-old daughter Willow.
