Marriage to Simon Khaya Moyo

Sibonokuhle Gertrude Ngwenya married Simon Khaya Moyo on August 30, 1980. The two divorced on February 20, 2013.[1]

Infidelity and divorce claims

On August 23, 2012, Simon Khaya Moyo filed a divorce subpoena in the High Court, claiming that there was no such thing as “love and affection” and that the marriage was irreversibly broken and that there were “no marital rights between the parties.”

The Daily News, which managed to get the affidavit, reported that Moyo’s wife went to bed with another man and that the marriage was irreparably broken because of this “infidelity” among other things.

Although the other man was not mentioned in the love triangle, sources familiar with the case said he was a farmer named Machemedze.[2]

Simon Khaya Moyo said he was ready to give up Edenvale farm in Mangwe district, Bulawayo, with 150 herds of cattle and all farm equipment and a house in Bulawayo’s suburb of Selbourne, on the condition that Gertrude stays at the house without remarrying or living with another man. Khaya Moyo agreed to a deal that could save him from public humiliation.

Moyo handed over the Edenvale farm, Mangwe district, along with 150 head of cattle and all agricultural implements, to his former wife. He also donated to their second son, Langa Mandlenkhosi Khaya Moyo, number 14406 Inkakha Circle, Selbourne, Park Bulawayo, although his former wife could have and enjoy the house for a lifetime, which would be lost in the event of their death, remarriage or cohabitation .[3]
