Meet the first 5G mobile hosting company

The article was written in collaboration with Orit Brown

A few days ago, I sat down for an interview with Rotem Guez, a savvy internet entrepreneur whose latest stroke of genius will make any mobile proxy user convert instantly.

Some readers may remember Guez as “the Israeli Mark Zuckerberg” after his battle against Facebook nearly a decade ago. At the time, Guez co-owned an investigative and skip tracing company, but also tinkered with social media marketing. Facebook threatened to sue him over his SMM activities, but he retaliated by officially changing his name to Mark Zuckerberg. The threat of the Goliath diminished and the media coverage Guez received for “Trolling the Giant” made him a prominent member of the Black Hat World community.

Since then, Guez has led numerous guerrilla marketing campaigns and has been invited to numerous television and radio shows as an Osint and cyber expert. As a cyber and social media consultant, he also helped produce “100 Million Views,” a documentary about the evolution of YouTube directed by Itamar Rose.

Since 2018, Guez has dedicated his time to finding creative solutions for data collection.

I asked him which of his campaigns he was most proud of. He recalled how, together with Guy Lerer from the TV show “HaTzaneret,” they exposed the 2016 Israel National Insurance Institute data mining tender to spy on people with disabilities in order to avoid paying their scholarships. “That and our “Free Gilad” campaign in 2011 are my most significant achievements to date,” he smiles proudly.

Back in 2021, Guez is on the move again, this time with an innovative mobile web hosting company. “This is the first web hosting company based on a 4G+ or 5G connection between cell towers and mobile devices. Our users enjoy the true cloud experience.”

So you don't use cables to connect to the Internet?

“We offer our users two ways to connect. The first way is through our S2S (Sim-to-Sim) service, which is mobile from start to finish. This service is designed for special operations that require the opening of mobile data centers anywhere in the world with 4G/5G coverage. The second way is through services like Mobile VPN, for which we use fiber as a gateway to our servers, but our customers’ connection to us and the Internet is completely mobile.”

Is this the biggest difference between you and a regular web hosting company?

“The key difference between us is that we offer residential mobile IPs. This means that all of our customers – whether they use a mobile VPS, a mobile VPN, a mobile proxy or install their websites on our servers for local SEO purposes – all look like a real human mobile browser. All other web hosting companies use traditional data centers. They offer very high speeds, but their footprint reveals their source as a data center proxy.”

So the point is to look like a real human mobile browser?

“The internet is all about data, right? The big data era means constant cross-referencing of data. On the one hand, the data rush sparked a plethora of innovative automation systems for brand protection, security, intelligence and marketing, to name a few. Although these industries work with automation tools, they do not want to be exposed, flagged, banned, or identified as bots or machines.

On the other hand, the companies that have all this data, especially real-time data from social media and other platforms, don't want to be scrapped or give it all away for free. That's why they implement high-level security measures that automatically flag or prohibit any automation associated with IPs that appear to come from data centers or look like machines. Our IPs operate under all of these radar screens.”

It sounds a lot like a mobile proxy, doesn't it?

“That's true, but in reality it's much, much more. Until now, mobile proxies have been the best way to make bots look like humans. We also sell mobile proxies, but the real advantage is ours Mobile VPSMobile VPN and Mobile Hosting Solutions.

Consider Mobile VPS as a transformation for those who use regular mobile proxies today.

Our customers can get 4G+ and 5G speeds, not 10-20 Mbps, which is what you get with the best mobile proxy services on the market. Users can host their computers or scripts in our Micro-LTE data center, which has line-of-sight to 4G+ and 5G cell towers, bringing their automation to the edge.”

Is this edge computing?

“Edge computing can mean different things to different people. In our case, edge computing does not mean the need to use proxies as we choose the perfect location for our data centers where they get the best 4G+ and 5G speeds. Think about it, we get 600/150 Mbps (download/upload speed) with Hot Mobile and partners. This creates a completely different experience for the customer.”

So they're like a traditional data center, just with a SIM slot?

“Exactly! We started our journey with Mobile VPS, the first service of its kind in the world, and then developed Mobile VPN.”

From what I understand you are targeting corporations and governments. How can someone like me use your services?

“Our customers include governments that delete or analyze data from the Internet, brand protection companies that scour the Internet looking for counterfeit products, law enforcement and crime enforcement agencies that collect important data points that can lead to the prevention or solving of criminal activity.” Internet marketers using multiple accounts and academic institutions. For regular Joes and Janes, we have developed our mobile VPN services that focus on personal security while surfing. Again, the advantage over traditional VPNs on the market today is that it makes you look like a regular mobile user. They are not identified as a machine in a data center – masked or not.

So, Rotem, what's next?

“We are launching MVPS and MVPN in April. We are also testing a very cool service that is part of our company's vision and allows customers to build their websites on our servers with the aim of local SEO. Look, we can’t yet compete with the speed and bandwidth that traditional data centers offer, but we can definitely compete with the localization of the domain installed in our Micro-LTE data centers.”

Where are you based?

“We are based in the UK and Illinois. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions, we are currently only selling 4G+ services in the UK. In Israel, we sell all our products in 4G+ and 5G modes.”

What do telecommunications companies say about your innovation?

“5G is all about crazy, innovative ideas. Who would have believed 10 years ago that a doctor with a robotic arm could successfully operate from miles away, as if he were in the operating room with the patient? These things are happening now!

All telecommunications companies around the world are promoting innovation around 5G. There is still a long way to go, so all players big and small want to work together and join forces in this piece.”
