Militant, Disguised as Missing Person, Killed in KP Offensive: ISPR

ISLAMA BAD: A soldier and a suspected terrorist who were “propagated as missing persons” were killed in a military operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pakistan Army said on Tuesday.

Security forces were conducting an intelligence-gathering operation (IBO) in the town of Shakas in the province’s Khyber district, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

“During the conduct of the operation, there was an intense exchange of fire between friendly forces and terrorists,” the military’s media statement said, adding that its forces effectively attacked the terrorist location and killed a key terrorist commander outright.

The killed terrorist was actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces, targeted killings and extortion, it said.

Weapons and ammunition were confiscated from the killed terrorist.

Saleem Khan, a 28-year-old soldier from Swabia, was also killed in the operation after fighting “gallantly”.

The clean-up of the area is being carried out to eliminate all other terrorists in the area, the statement said.

“The Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the threat of terrorism and such sacrifices by our brave soldiers strengthen our resolve.”
