LAKE NORMAN (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – After nearly a day of searching, a missing person has been recovered Sunday afternoon, according to the Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue.
First responders said they were called sometime around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, about a missing boater in the D5 area of Lake Norman near Washam Road.

Firefighters said they found the missing person’s body on Sunday, July 2.
“We ask that you think of the family and pray at this time,” Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue said in a statement.
During the search, the population was asked to avoid the area. Officials have not said what led to the incident.
This comes in the wake of a water rescue at Mountain Island Lake Saturday night that left two people with non-life-threatening injuries, one of whom had to be airlifted.
