The police reduce the search for the Victorian man Christopher Inwood, who has been missing in Tasmania's Cradle Mountain for several days.
Mr. Inwood is feared for dead because the authorities say that his chances of survival are “very low” when he was exposed to the elements for the time when he was missing.
Mr. Inwood was last seen on Monday evening in the northwest of Tasmania in Kindred. The next morning his van was found in a parking lot on a ranger station.
An extensive search for the search was undertaken to find the 52-year-old, including a helicopter team, police, SES volunteers, Park Rangers and drone operators.
Huts and emergency shelters along the Overland route were searched, as were far-reaching air through the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park.

Steven Jones, the police search and rescue inspector in Tasmania, said that the emergency agencies would continue to follow new leads to find Mr. Inwood.
“Our thoughts remain with his family, who are affected in this incredibly difficult time,” said inspector Jones.
“In the area in which the missing person was last accepted, extensive searches were undertaken.
“This area was sought comprehensively at this point and all adequate search strategies were completed.”
While Mr. Inwood's vehicle was located, the search team found no further evidence to track it down.

“In view of the time in which Mr. Inwood was missing and the hard weather conditions in the area, if he was completely exposed to the elements, his chances of survival are extremely low,” said inspector Jones.
The weather conditions this week in Cradle Mountain were below freezing overnight.
Anyone who has information about Mr. Inwood's location was encouraged to turn from Tasmania in the police.
