Missing person found after 14 miles in the area north of Whitefish

After an extensive weekend search, the search and rescue of Flathead County as well as the search and rescue of North Valley removed a missing person from their last known location.

Searchers reacted to the Star Meadows Ranch north of Whitefish in the early Saturday morning. The person had been missing since Friday in the afternoon and was supposedly not dressed for the weather.

The two search organizations, dog teams, several foot seekers, side and drones were used to locate the missing person. The search lasted until the middle of Saturday. The person suffered from a mild hypothermia when found.

Flathead County Search and Rescue published on social media:

In such a situation, 95% of the missing people who have left are located within about 2 miles around the radius of their last known place. However, this person was found far outside the search area after traveling about 14 miles! Fortunately, he only suffered from a slight hypothermia.
