Missouri Approves First Round of Amendments to Regulations Relating to Child Custody and Enforcement of Child Support – News/Talk KRMS
The Missouri Senate has passed a first-round measure aimed at amending rules related to child custody and child support enforcement.
The 2023 legislative session is now in its final six weeks and much time has been spent on several measures including Senate Bill 35.
The sponsor, Senator Karla May of St. Louis, tells her colleagues that her proposal seeks to change regulations related to child custody and enforcement of child support…
“It’s now an incentive for them to come in and finalize a payment plan or whatever so they can get started.”
Senate Bill 35 would change some of the criteria when someone fails to comply with child support orders.
During discussion in the Missouri Senate, Senator Rick Brattin of Harrisonville added an amendment…
“This is basically just a starting point that we will start from as each parent works towards co-parenting.”
Missouri Senators give preliminary approval to Senate Bill 35.
Another “yes” vote would refer this bill to the Missouri House of Representatives for similar consideration.
