LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) — Isabella Washington was located Saturday night and is safe, according to the Lake Charles Police Department. Three people, including her mother, have been subpoenaed for encroaching on her custody, the LCPD said on Sunday.
The 1-year-old child was reported missing to the LCPD on Saturday afternoon by her grandmother, who has temporary custody. According to the LCPD, the child had been abducted from her grandmother’s home.
After searching for several hours with the help of the public, detectives contacted Talor Ja’Nea Jones, who, according to the LCPD, confirmed that she had the child. Jones took Isabella to the police station around 9 p.m., where detectives confirmed her identity.
After questioning, police issued subpoenas for conspiracy, interfering with child custody and violating a court order against Talor Ja’Nae Jones, 26; Shakeira Marie Dupre, 22; and Isabella’s mother, Mercedes Diamante Washington, 22, according to the LCPD. You have been released.
LCPD thanked the community for assisting with the search Saturday afternoon and asked anyone with additional information about the case to call 337-491-1311.
