Ne-Yo Denies Alimony Payments for Her Estranged Wife and Suggests She ‘Get a Job’

Ne-Yo and his estranged wife Crystal Smith have once again decided to divorce in court, and this time it could be between them forever. However, Ne-Yo has reportedly refused child support payments to estranged wife Crystal Smith and suggests she “gets a job.”

Crystal Smith filed for divorce on August 1, where she requested financial support as they “agreed” that she would not work during the marriage. Aside from property division, she also filed for primary custody of their three children: Shaffer, Roman, and Isabella. This didn’t seem to please Ne-Yo, who objected to Crystal’s claims during court appearances on Friday, September 9.

The American singer has now applied for ownership of their Georgia mansion, stating that he is “solely responsible for the mortgage and maintenance of this property since the date of purchase.” According to the legal documents, Ne-Yo also requested joint legal and physical custody of their children. He stated in his defense that “he is financially, physically and emotionally fit to serve alongside Crystal as joint physical guardian of the parties’ three minor children”.

This case can be traced back to less than two months ago, after Crystal publicly accused Ne-Yo of being unfaithful on social media. She claimed the singer fathered a child outside of the home. “8 years of lies and deceit. 8 years of unknowingly sharing my life and my husband with numerous women who sell their bodies to him unprotected… every single one of them,” she said.

“In the interest of our children, my family and I will face our challenges behind closed doors. Personal matters should not be discussed and analyzed in public forums. All I ask is that you respect the privacy of me and my family at this time.” Ne-Yo responded under the post.

This wouldn’t be the first split between the two. Ne-Yo and Crystal reportedly had their first breakup since getting married in 2020.
