Ne-Yo refuses to pay child support to his estranged wife, Crystal Smith, in their divorce
It seems like things get ugly fast in between Ne-Yo and his estranged wife Crystal Smith!
According to court documents obtained by Radar Online, Ne-Yo has requested joint custody of the 3 children he shares with Crystal Smith. The singer agreed that his marriage is
“broken beyond repair, with no hope of reconciliation.”
According to reports Ne-Yo objected to crystal Application for temporary and permanent child support along with primary custody of the children. Instead, he believes they should share joint legal and physical custody. The music producer said he should pay child support but disagreed with the idea of spousal support. In his legal documents Ne-Yo said he is indeed one
“active and loving father to his children.”
It also said
“[Ne-Yo] claims that he is financially, physically and emotionally fit to serve as joint physical guardian of the parties’ three minor children alongside [Crystal].”
The “So Sick” singer claimed exclusive use of the Georgia marital home as
“He has been solely responsible for the mortgage and maintenance of this property since the date of purchase.”
Ne-Yo claims he bought 3 properties during the marriage and maintained them himself. He wants crystal missing contribution taken into account in the asset allocation.
When it comes to spousal maintenance Ne-Yo fights
The singer admitted that he is an established professional entertainer crystal was
“temporarily informally unemployed during the marriage.”

As previously reported, crystal filed for divorce in Georgia on August 1. She gave the date of marriage as February 20, 2016 and the date of separation as July 22, 2022. The sudden divorce came after rumors surfaced Ne-Yo had been unfaithful in his marriage and allegedly fathered a child with another woman.
The songwriter’s wife said she has been taking care of their three children since their separation and plans to seek primary physical custody, joint legal custody, and child support and alimony.
In her petition she said she did
“is entitled to a divorce from [Ne-Yo] on the grounds that the marriage has broken up beyond repair, with no hope of reconciliation…[Ne-Yo] committed adultery.”
crystal demanded temporary and permanent alimony for both the child and the spouse. She told the court she relied on Ne-Yos Money to pay the bills as they agreed she wouldn’t work. The file reads
“[Crystal] demands that [Ne-Yo] assume sole responsibility for all debts and obligations acquired by independently [Ne-Yo] and the [Ne-Yo] stop [Crystal] indemnified for any such debt or obligation.”
