New restrictions apply to alimony payers in Russia

OREANDA NEWS The Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation Konstantin Chuichenko suggested that, in addition to registration in the relevant register, we should also consider additional restrictions for debtors of alimony.

“We have drawn up a draft federal law that provides for the creation of a separate, publicly accessible register of those liable for maintenance. In November it was adopted by the State Duma in the first reading. We hope for your support in considering the law at a session of the Federation Council. Perhaps we need to think together about additional restrictions on alimony debtors,” Chuichenko said during an open dialogue with Valentina Matviyenko in the Federation Council.

Previously, the State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill on the establishment of a register of debtors of alimony, which contains information about persons subject to administrative and criminal prosecution and wanted persons.

It is noted that the FSSP must regularly exchange data with the Pension and Social Insurance Fund of the Russian Federation. According to the explanatory statement, the adoption of the bill will lead to “high-quality execution of judicial acts and increase the motivation of debtors to pay alimony.”
