NLE Choppa updates – Rapper speaks out after fears he’s missing as mother thanks community for support
What law enforcement focuses on
It’s not against the law to go missing. So if a missing person report is filed, the victim cannot be arrested for it.
Law enforcement’s primary concern is the safety of the individual and investigating whether they are at risk.
When a report is filed, a law enforcement investigator is assigned to the case and the individual is entered into the National Crime Information Center database.
Missing persons are also entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) and the Doe Network.

What a missing person means

The absence of a missing person was also reported to law enforcement.
They can disappear for a number of reasons, both voluntary and involuntary, harmless or evil.

Actions to take if someone goes missing
According to Hopler, Wilms, and Hanna, you need to take the following steps when a person in your life goes missing:
- File a police report and provide officers with a recent photo
- Request a “Be On the LookOut” (BOLO) bulletin for publication by law enforcement
- Ask for an organized search with sniffer dogs
- Restrict access to your home until the police arrive and collect evidence.
- Inform investigators of all facts and circumstances surrounding the enforced disappearance and inform law enforcement of what actions have already been taken.
- Provide law enforcement with a detailed description, including a photo of clothing, personal items, birthmarks, scars, tattoos, and demeanor if appropriate
- Designate a person to answer the phone at home if you have one. Always have paper handy to take notes and ask the police for a tracer on your home phone.
- For cases older than 30 days, help officers locate dental and medical records.
- If you have friends who are tech savvy, ask them to help find the location of the missing person’s cell phone, car GPS, or computer. If there is a pet with a tracking device, try to use that information to find the person.
