KISUMU, Kenya, January 18 – Police in Nyando arrested a man who killed his wife on Sunday evening for alleged infidelity.

Nyando police chief Leonard Matete said the suspect, a 28-year-old, chopped off the victim’s hand in Ogenya.

Matete said the man took his wife, who was bleeding profusely, to Ahero Sub County Hospital, where she died while on treatment.

The suspect, he said, accused his wife of infidelity and vowed to teach her a lesson.

Matete said the suspect will be charged in court once an investigation is completed.

“The woman died while receiving medical attention,” he said.

“We are holding the husband while the suspect and officers delve into the matter,” he added.

Junior Osako, a local resident, told the press the suspect chopped off the woman’s hands in the middle of the night.

The couple had a child.
