A 55-year-old man is said to have beheaded his wife in Chandrasekharpur, Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, on suspicion of her having illicit relationships. The accused later walked at least 12 km with her severed head to the nearest police post.
According to the information, the defendant, identified as Nakaphodi Majhi alias Janda, suspected Chanchala’s (his wife’s) infidelity and frequently quarreled with her. In a fit of rage, he beheaded Chanchala with a sharp weapon after a violent altercation on Thursday.

The next morning, Nakaphodi arrived at Gondia police station with his wife’s severed head to surrender. Panic gripped locals when Nakaphodi was arrested as he was walking to the police station with his severed head.
Villagers then grabbed him and handed him over to the police. As a result, the Joranda police registered a case and arrested Majhi. Police also recovered the blood-stained gun used in the crime.
The deceased woman leaves behind two sons, one of whom is married, according to police.
Further investigations are ongoing.
