A 46-year-old man, Sobola Olatunji, was arrested by men from Ogun State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his 38-year-old wife, Memunat, 24 hours before Valentine for alleged infidelity.
Sobola, a former worker in the state’s Remo-North government district, allegedly stabbed his wife to death during a fight.
The State Police’s PR officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, announced this in a statement on Monday.

Oyeyemi said the victim was taken to hospital but died while receiving treatment.
The police spokesman noted that the suspect was arrested on Saturday following a complaint from the deceased’s father, Alhaji Ambali Yinusa.
He said Yinusa reported to police at Owode-Egba Division headquarters that his son-in-law had a misunderstanding with the woman, which led to an argument between them.
The PPRO said, “He went on to explain that Sobola Olatunji took a knife and stabbed his wife in the back.
In response to the report, the Owode-Egba DPO, CSP Matthew Ediae, dispatched his detectives to the location where the suspect was immediately arrested and the victim was rushed to hospital for treatment.

“But during the treatment the victim gave up the ghost. At interrogation, the suspect, who claimed to have been married to the deceased for 20 years, alleged that he suspected his wife was in an extramarital relationship based on some text messages he saw on her phone.
“He went on to state that it was when he challenged his late wife on his suspicion that an argument broke out between them that eventually led to the death of the mother of three.
“The body of the deceased was deposited in the morgue at Olabisi Onabanjo University for an autopsy.”
