One other Hillsong pastor resigns after sharing express footage and admitting infidelity

Darnell Barrett, 32, denied attempting to “lure” a woman with his insightful selfies, calling it an “honest mistake.”

Another married Hillsong pastor has resigned after a sexual scandal.

Darnell Barrett, 32, of the Montclair, New Jersey branch of the mega-church resigned Tuesday after it was revealed that he had sent explicit photos to a former church volunteer, according to DailyMail.

The news comes just six months after NYC Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz was fired for “moral failures”. Lentz later admitted to cheating on his wife.

In the two Instagram story images received by the outlet, Barrett wears white Nike Pro Compression tights that reveal the outline of his private parts.

Barrett sent the selfies to his group of “close friends” – but a former Church volunteer who was not one of his “close friends” received similar photos directly from him. He claimed it was an accident, but she called on him to “fish”.

“Obviously you wanted me to see the shirtless photos and the outline of your d — let’s not play and act like that, that wasn’t the point,” the woman, who remained anonymous, wrote in posts from back the news source . “Your messages to get me to see your ‘raw s —‘ are obvious. ‘”

After catching up with Barrett outside his house on Tuesday, DailyMail admitted that he had resigned from his position as creative director in the church and cited “infidelity” he “worked through” with his wife.

“We thought it would be best for me to keep going. I don’t want to go into the details,” he said. “That was just an honest mistake and I informed my wife as soon as it happened.”

Commenting on the Church volunteer, he added, “I have not tried to lure her at all. I understand that in the context of what is happening to Hillsong, she would draw these conclusions. But I barely know her. That was it Not my intention.”

The “context of what’s happening” appears to be referring to the Lentz scandal that occurred in November that prompted Hillsong founder Brian Houston to issue a statement regarding Lent’z’s dismissal.

“This action was not taken lightly and in the best interests of all, including Pastor Carl,” wrote Houston. “This action was taken after ongoing discussions regarding leadership issues and breaches of trust, and following a recent exposure of moral flaws.”

Lentz followed in an Instagram post, writing, “I was unfaithful in my marriage, the most important relationship in my life, and blamed it. This mistake is mine and mine and I take full responsibility for my actions.”
