Seaside Park Police released their weekly blotter, which includes descriptions of a sample of calls the department has responded to over the past week. In total, the department has received 168 service calls so far this week.
The blotter was submitted as follows:

drug paraphernalia – Police were dispatched to the Stockton Avenue and Central area for a report of a hypodermic needle left on the sidewalk. Officers arrived, checked the area and were able to locate the item. The needle was taken away by the police to be placed in the appropriate container for safe disposal. The area was checked and no other contraband was found.

Alarm clock – Police responded to the 4th and Central Avenue area to activate a burglar alarm. Officers arrived and checked the perimeter of the building. Officers at the scene saw no signs of forced entry. The doors and windows were all secure and the alarm was found to have gone off in error.
fire alarm – Police and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company responded to the Decatur and Central Avenue area to activate a smoke detector. The police and fire brigade came and checked the apartment. No visible signs of smoke were observed. The fire brigade checked the apartment with their thermal sensor devices and found no danger in the apartment. After further investigation, it was found that smoke detectors clogged with dust caused the alarm. The homeowner has been informed of the results.
motorcycle accident – Police, the Tri-Boro First Aid Squad and the Seaside Park Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched to J Street and Central Avenue for a car accident involving an overturned vehicle. Police came and checked everyone involved and no injuries were reported. Officers secured the scene and blocked traffic to allow rescue workers and firefighters to screen the parties involved and secure the vehicles to prevent a fire from breaking out. This crash is still under investigation. Both drivers received subpoenas for traffic violations.

missing person – Police were dispatched to the Porter and Central Avenue area to look for a missing 11-year-old who left without a permit. Police arrived and spoke to the household member, who called and collected a physical description and the rest of the relevant information needed to compile a report. The information was passed to the patrols and the person was safely located and returned home and handed over to family members.
Civil Disputes – Police responded to the 1st and Central area to settle a civil case between two people over property left behind and not returned. The police gathered all the information needed to compile a report. Both parties were advised how to proceed if they wished to lodge complaints. The police were able to convey the situation and the people were able to clarify it.
community monitoring – While on patrol in the Farragut and Central area, officers observed a man who appeared lost or disoriented. Police stopped to check on the subject and made sure he was okay. The subject was fine and was denied any medical or other care. Subject got lost and was taken home safely by police.

Agency Assistance – Police were dispatched to the Stockton and Boulevard area to assist Seaside Heights with a suspect who stole from a store in their town and fled on foot into our jurisdiction. Officers disseminated the male subject’s description and checked the area and were able to locate him and were arrested without incident and turned over to the Seaside Heights Police Department for processing.
