Oxygen autos in UP to have GPS monitoring

Lucknow, April 20 (IANS): In view of the reported illegal marketing of medical-grade oxygen, Uttar Pradesh’s Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath has now asked the authorities to monitor all oxygen vehicles with GPS tracking devices.

“Provide police protection to all oxygen systems. Monitor oxygen vehicles with GPS devices. Take all possible measures to prevent black from being marketed and from benefiting from oxygen and other life-saving drugs,” the chief minister said Tuesday.

He directed the authorities to ensure that each hospital had at least 36 hours of oxygen available.

According to the government spokesman, “in the particular circumstances, the prime minister has asked officials to ensure that the oxygen produced in all industrial facilities, large and small, including MSMEs, is only used for medical purposes. These oxygen facilities should be connected to the nearest hospital. A a comprehensive plan of action in this regard should be drawn up today. “

The prime minister also announced that the process of building five new oxygen facilities in the state has begun. “As a further preparation, the establishment of oxygen systems in all hospitals with a capacity of more than 100 beds should be compulsory. Modern technologies such as air separation units should be promoted. Their capacity should be increased in the state,” he said.
