Pit bulls found chained to trees during search for missing person in Florence County; 2 people arrested

During a search for a missing person on Main Street in Timmonsville Thursday evening, authorities found eight pit bulls that were malnourished and unkempt.

Officers responded to reports that a missing dog might be located there and went to 515 East Main Street. Although the missing dog, who has since been found, was not at that location, officers immediately noticed several dogs that appeared to be in poor health.

According to officials, nine dogs were allegedly chained to trees and had no shelter or water. Officials further claim that several dogs had bite marks, scars and severe injuries, some of which required veterinary care.
