Police are searching for a missing person at Lake Cochituate in Natick after a boating accident

Authorities are searching for a person who went missing Saturday after a boating accident in South Pond at Cochituate State Park in Natick, officials said.

One person made it ashore and another is still missing, Natick Deputy Police Chief Brian Lauzon said in an email at 7:44 p.m

Police and firefighters are both on site, the Natick Fire Department said in a statement on Facebook. A dive team from Massachusetts Fire District 14 was also at the scene, along with a state police helicopter.

State police also dispatched their marine unit to the scene, a spokesman said.

“Please avoid the area,” the Natick Fire Department said.
