Police Discover Lifeless Physique of Mom’s Lacking 8-12 months-Previous Accomplice, Charged with Homicide – WSB-TV Channel 2
GWINNETT COUNTY, Georgia – An 8-year-old girl with autism who went missing in Gwinnett County was found dead and now her mother and mother’s partner have been charged with their deaths.
Amari Hall disappeared from an extended stay hotel in Gwinnett County on Sunday evening.
Police found Amari’s body Tuesday morning in a wooded area in the Stone Mill Trace neighborhood, near Stone Mountain State Park.
Investigators told Channel 2’s Tom Regan that they don’t know how long she’s been there.
“It’s extremely painful. We all have families and we recognize the innocence of an 8-year-old child, ”said JD McClure, Gwinnett County police chief.
On Sunday, the girl’s mother, Brittany Hall, claimed her daughter had disappeared from the motel.
Police with K-9s swarmed around the motel area.
At the same time, investigators said they were continuing to interrogate the mother and her partner, Celeste Owens.
Based on their conflicting statements and evidence, investigators concluded that they were lying.
“At that point our investigation moved from a missing person case to a murder case,” said McClure.

Police have charged Owens with murder, and Hall is charged with hiding her daughter’s death. According to police, she helped investigators find the body.
You are now trying to find out how and where the child was killed. At the time, investigators told Regan they had no motive for the murder, which began as a missing person case.
“We worked extremely hard and unfortunately these were not the results we were hoping for,” said McClure. “My heart goes out to the extended Amari Hall family.”
Amari’s mother is also charged with filing a false police report. Both she and her partner also face multiple child abuse.
The coroner is working to determine the official cause of death.
Two other children who live at Brittany Hall and Owens’ home, a 6-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy, were taken into DFCS custody.
People who live in the neighborhood where police found the little girl’s body say they are stunned.
Channel 2’s Ashli Lincoln went to Stone Mill Trace on Tuesday afternoon and found yellow crime scene tape from the area where investigators found Amari’s body.
Neighbors who live nearby said they were heartbroken at the discovery.
“I’ve just seen a lot of police cars and detectives and when I got back from the store they had to tape the entire crime scene and I was sure it was a body. But an 8 year old child? I don’t even know how I slept so close to this kid outside all night, but I’m just down for God they found her body, ”said a neighbor.
Investigators are working to find out why Amari’s body was left there. Neighbors told Lincoln that if Amari was alive they would have taken her in.
