Yale and New Haven police are searching for a missing college employee, Anton Sovetov, and are asking the public for help.
Sovetov, 44, a graphic designer who lives in New Haven and works at Yale’s Office of Public Affairs & Communications (OPAC), has been missing since about Friday, February 4, when he was last in contact with colleagues, the police chief of Yale, Ronnell Higgins had said Thursday in a public message.
Higgins said anyone with information that could aid the investigation should contact the Yale Police Department at 203-432-4400 or the New Haven Police Department at 203-946-6316, or send an anonymous text tip through the LiveSafe app .
“The Yale Police Department and the New Haven Police Department are looking for information that may be helpful in locating him,” Higgins said.
YPD and NHPD have worked tirelessly with colleagues in other agencies to generate and follow up leads in this missing person case.
Sovetov, a 2016 graduate of Yale School of Art, joined the university staff in 2017.
Sovetov is about 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighs about 200 pounds, and has a beard and short brown hair.
“Mr. Sovetov is a popular Yale employee,” Higgins said. “The news of his disappearance hits not only his OPAC colleagues, but also other members of the Yale community. Yale encourages those most affected to take advantage of the support services available to the university community.”
Nate Nickerson, Yale Vice President of Communications, said, “The Office of Public Affairs & Communications is grateful for the intense and concerted work being done by the Yale Police Department, the New Haven Police Department and other law enforcement agencies. We remain optimistic and look forward to Anton’s safe return.”
